Dear SoupFriends:
Greetings from the SoupMan. Well its certainly been a hot summer here in Dallas.
Recently tempertatures have hovered around 100 degrees. For most of us high tempertatures are no big deal. We travel in our air conditioned cars to our air conditioned offices and then to our air conditioned homes. For most of us the 'heat' is more of a talking point than a real concern.
If you are homeless its a whole nother ballgame. NO car with AC, NO office with AC and NO home with AC. Its just a long hot summer with no relief in sight. To make matters worse the homeless do not have access to water like you and I do. They can't afford to buy bottled water and drinking fountains in Dallas are few and far between.
Now you may be saying, well why don't they simply go into an office building or fast food place to get some water. Ah, well there is the rub. The homeless are not welcome in many of those places. Places that you are I can freely enter are not accessable to the homeless. Unfair you say! Unconscionable you say! Unbelieveable you say! You are right on all counts.
So SoupMan---that's the end of the story, right??? There is really nothing I can do about this problem, right??? I'm only one person and I can't really make a difference, right??? Well Grasshopper, that's a NO on all counts. Guess what, you can help get water to the homeless and its really easy. Just stop by your local store and pick up a case of water. It will cost you less than $4.00. Drop the water off at SoupMobile Headquarters and we will distribute to the homeless for you.
I know what you are thinking. "Gee SoupMan, could you make it any easier for us to help." Well actually I can. If you don't have the time to go and buy the water and drop it off, simply go to our website, www.soupmobile.org and click on DONATIONS and donate the $4.00 online and my SoupTeam will go and buy the water for you. Now that's what I'm talking about!!!
P.S. Great News! The SoupMobile will be on TV. Tune into Dallas WFAA Channel 8 on Tuesday July 28th and watch the DAYBREAK SHOW. The SoupMobile will be featured in the OUR NEIGHBOR segment between 6:30AM and 7:00AM CST. No worries if you miss it because we will put the link to the story on the SoupMan's blog.
May the Lord bless and keep you all.
David Timothy, a.k.a. The SoupMan
